Yoga Therapy
What is Yoga Therapy? |
|---|---|
Yoga Therapy is a modern name for the application of the ancient science of Yoga as a wellness intervention modality in a clinical context. Yoga Therapy assesses the patients physical, mental, emotional and spiritual inter-relationships, qualifies the patients constitutional body type, quantifies any imbalance of the patients material elements, identifies any physical, mental or emotional factors underlying the patients wellness issue, and prescribes a remedial course of yogic management which empowers the patient to become the decisive factor in attaining optimum wellness while minimizing the dependency upon drugs, assistive devices and invasive health interventions. |
| Who can benefit from Yoga Therapy? | |
Yoga Therapy is suited to individuals whom are recovering from severe to acute injury, illness, disease or trauma, to those who struggle to follow group yoga classes, and to those whom are interested in utilizing the Yoga System for making profound radical personal progress towards vibrant health, mental clarity, inner-peace and self-realization. |
| How does one approach Yoga Therapy? | |
Yoga Therapy can be commenced from the onset of dis-ease onwards and will include a full workup of medical testing and diagnosis for those with serious wellness issues to first determine whether yogic management or medical management would be the most responsible and efficient approach to commence addressing the wellness issues. |
| What are the steps to begin Yoga Therapy? | |
Yoga Therapy begins with an intensive three-hour Yoga Therapy Assessment wherein a Patient Profile, a Dosha Test, a Body Scan, a Mobility Test, and a brief discussion occurs. |

A two-hour Private Yoga Session follows several days after the Yoga Therapy Assessment wherein a tailored Wellness Plan, including lifestyle, dietary, personality, postural, activity and perceptual considerations aimed at achieving optimum wellness is reviewed. This Session will include a run trough of a series of prescribed yogic exercises which are central to the success of the Wellness Plan. |
| 3 | In most situations the patient is encouraged to book a Private Yoga Session once per week for the first four-weeks to help safely integrate the the Wellness Plan into daily living. These sessions can help to finely tune the Wellness Plan and identify whether other complimentary wellness interventions need to be recommended by the Yoga Therapist. |
| 4 | A Yoga Therapy Reassessment is recommended within 30-60 days after commencing the Wellness Plan at which time wellness progress is quantified and the Wellness Plan may be modified to facilitate further progress. |
Yogic management of wellness views the patients committment to be actively achieving wellness as the most important determinant of achieving wellness success. |
